• It is still commonly used today across certain Asian communities.

The Abacus provides countable beads for children to visualize numbers on a base-10 system. The children learn to manipulate those beads to perform arithmetic calculations. However, the aim of the course is to make them completely self reliant. For this, after a certain period of time, the physical abacus is also withdrawn. They have to now visualize and internalize the image of the abacus in their mind. By applying the unique concepts in UCMAS the children learn how to perform arithmetic calculations of up to 10 digits with astonishing speed and accuracy. Most importantly, this is only the end result of having developed the following mental abilities: concentration, observation, imagination and memory.
