Guidelines to Students
Practice daily, at home, for about 10-15 minutes.
Always keep a track of time & note your speed while doing the arithmetic problems.
Write your answers neatly & clearly.
Always complete home practice in time.
Guidelines to Parents
Make sure your child arrives on time for his/her classes and is appropriately dressed, i.e.
with the U C MAS t-shirt.
Make sure your child attends all the classes.
The daily home practice given to the child is to enhance the ‘imaging’ skill of the child.
Help your child to complete the daily home practice in about 10 to 15 minutes.
Check the progress of your child frequently.
It is very important to make sure that the child completes all 10 levels of the course. Progress will be seen even after a few levels but you should not consider that this is the peak of achievement in Mental Arithmetic. The student will have to complete all 10 levels to achieve the full benefits of the programme
Programme Duration
- The program is divided into 10 terms
- Each term has 12 classes taught over 3 months
- Children are taught once a week for two hours, which can be either a single class lasting two hours or it can be split into two one-hour classes
- Total program duration is about 30 months and does not clash with school timing or curriculum in any way.

Examination, Grading & Certification
An exam will be conducted at the end of each term, which would be a quick 5-15 minute one, and the students need to secure at least 60% to qualify for the next level.
Grading of the exams will be conducted at our head office in Malaysia once a year. Anything above a 60% is a pass and anything above 70% will be graded.
There would also be a yearly national competition. This competition would help the students know their standing on a national level.
Mental Arithmetic part of Curriculum in
Malaysia
"KUALA LUMPUR, - 3.07.1998 -Mental arithmetic will be made part of the school curriculum because it has been proven to also sharpen student's skills and minds, Education Minister Datuk Seri Najib Turi Razak said today. He said that initially, 23 teacher training college lecturers and 200 teachers trained in the use of the abacus would be selected for training.
